As used by the Corps, the term "public notice" is an official, required government announcement of a proposed agency action, decision made or under consideration, public hearing or other activity.  Please download the attachment(s) associated with notice for the complete, formatted, public notice with tables, illustrations, maps and plans.

    Expiration date: 7/29/2024

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application on June 13, 2024 from Republic Services (Republic) seeking Department of the Army authorization to discharge fill material into 0.69-acre of wetlands and 1,527 linear feet of stream associated with the Phase 6 expansion of the existing White Oak Landfill in Waynesville, Haywood County, North Carolina.

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from Smith Reynolds Airport (INT), seeking Department of the Army authorization to permanently impact 2,509 linear feet (LF) of stream channel and 0.87 acre of wetland, and temporarily impact 26 LF of stream channel for the extension of Runway 4-22 Safety Area and construction of Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul Facilities (Project), in Winston-Salem, Forsyth County, North Carolina.

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application on June 5, 2024 from the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) seeking Department of the Army authorization to discharge dredged or fill material into waters of the United States associated with the proposed Williamson Road Improvement project, that begins where Williamson Road intersects with Brawley School Road and extends approximately 2.5 miles southeast to terminate just past the intersection of Williamson Road with I-77 in Mooresville, Iredell County, North Carolina.

    The Wilmington District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) has received an application for a Department of the Army permit pursuant to Section 404 of the Clean Water Act (33 U.S.C. §1344). The project would affect waters of the United States associated with Terrible Creek and its tributaries. The proposed construction would impact a total of 0.560 acre of wetlands (0.041-acre temporary impacts; 0.519 acre permanent impacts), a total of 2,828 linear feet of tributaries (2,538 linear feet permanent impacts, 290 linear feet temporary impacts), and would permanently drain a 0.07 acre pond.

  • Wilmington Harbor 403 Letter Report and EIS Wilmington Harbor Navigation Project

    PLEASE NOTE: THIS PUBLIC NOTICE IS FOR A USACE CIVIL WORKS PROJECT AND IS NOT A SOLICITIATION FOR COMMENT ON A REGULATORY PERMITTING ACTION There is a discrepancy between two dates listed as the end of the comment period in the Notice Of Intent. The public comment period is open through July 22nd, 2024. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Wilmington District, Wilmington, North Carolina, in partnership with the state, acting through the North Carolina State Port Authority (NCSPA), is advising Federal, State, and local governmental agencies and the public that USACE, in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), has published a notice of intent (NOI) in the federal register that USACE intends to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) to evaluate proposed transportation improvements for the Wilmington Harbor Navigation Project, North Carolina, including deepening and widening of the navigation channel. USACE will be conducting the environmental review in accordance with Council on Environmental Quality's NEPA Implementing Regulations (40 CFR part 1500-1508), and USACE Procedures For Implementing NEPA (33 CFR part 230), and other related environmental review requirements.
