Wrightsville Beach

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Wilmington District, North Carolina, has prepared and is seeking public comments on the Draft Validation Study Report and Environmental Assessment for Wrightsville Beach, New Hanover County, North Carolina, June 2019.  The purpose of this study is to determine Federal interest in increasing the project’s maximum total cost limit as defined by Section 902 of the Water Resources Development Act of 1986, to continue authorized coastal storm risk management through periodic nourishment through 2036.  Project boundaries begin at Masonboro Inlet to the south and extend to a point adjacent to Sand Dollar Lane to the north.  If the recommendations in this report are ultimately federally authorized, Federal participation in periodic nourishment would continue through 2036.
