As used by the Corps, the term "public notice" is an official, required government announcement of a proposed agency action, decision made or under consideration, public hearing or other activity.  Please download the attachment(s) associated with notice for the complete, formatted, public notice with tables, illustrations, maps and plans.

  • SAW-2010-00653

    Expiration date: 6/13/2019

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) seeking Department of the Army authorization to discharge dredged or fill material into waters of the United States, associated with proposed improvements to 5.5 miles of NC 105 from SR 1136 (Clark’s Creek Road) to SR 1107 (NC 105 Bypass) in Boone, Watauga County (R-2566B). Additionally, NCDOT proposes to replace Bridge 5 over the Watauga River (R-2566BA) in Watauga County, North Carolina.

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) has received an application from the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), Environmental Analysis Unit, seeking Department of the Army authorization to discharge fill material into waters of the United States associated with the proposed 12.8 miles of widening of and improvements to I-40 from the I-40/I-440/US64 interchange in Wake County to just north of SR 1525 (Cornwallis Road) in Johnston County, North Carolina (TIPs I-5111 and I-4739; Federal Aid Project No. IMNHF-040-4(139)301). The improvements would include modifying the interchanges and replacing the bridges along I-40. The project impacts 1.18 acres of wetlands, 7,939 linear feet (lf) of tributaries, and 0.58 acre of ponds, regulated under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act.

  • Marsh Sill Regional General Permit

    The DISTRICT ENGINEER, WILMINGTON DISTRICT, 69 Darlington Avenue, Wilmington North Carolina 28403, hereby announces the issuance of Regional General Permit (RGP) 20181536 pursuant to Section 10 of the River and Harbor Act of 1899 (33 U.S.C. 403) and Section 404 of the Clean Water Act (33 U.S.C. 1344). This RGP authorizes the construction, maintenance and repair of marsh sills for shoreline stabilization along eroding shorelines within waters located within the 20 coastal counties of North Carolina. Title 33, Code of the Federal Regulations (CFR), Paragraph 325, authorizes issuances of RGPs for activities which are substantially similar in nature and cause only minimal individual and cumulative environmental impacts.   • SAW-2008-02698

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from Bailey & Fuller Properties, LLC seeking to modify the Department of the Army authorization issued on January 30, 2017 for the construction of the Bailey Center commercial development located at 810 West Corbett Avenue (Hwy 24), Swansboro, Onslow County, NC. The modification request is to discharge fill material into 0.23 acres of wetlands to facilitate expansion of the Bailey Center, which includes the construction of a multipurpose building with six units, a mini storage facility, associated parking, roads and a reconfigured stormwater facility.

  • SAW-2018-02144

    Expiration date: 6/6/2019

    The United States Army Corps of Engineers – Wilmington District (Corps) published on April 9, 2019, for public comment, the Town of Beech Mountain’s proposal to modify a minimum flow release permit condition of a previously issued standard permit which authorized the construction of Buckeye Reservoir, in the Beech Mountain community of Avery County, North Carolina. The public comment period on this proposal has been extended until June 6, 2019.
