As used by the Corps, the term "public notice" is an official, required government announcement of a proposed agency action, decision made or under consideration, public hearing or other activity.  Please download the attachment(s) associated with notice for the complete, formatted, public notice with tables, illustrations, maps and plans.

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from the Piedmont Triad Airport Authority (PTAA) seeking Department of the Army authorization to discharge dredged or fill material into 383 linear feet of stream channel, 0.08 acre of wetlands, and 1.72 acres of open water, and temporarily discharge dredged or fill material into 0.02 acre of wetlands, associated with the relocation of existing rental car facilities in order to eliminate a "line‐of‐sight" issue for a proposed air traffic control tower at the Piedmont Triad International Airport (GSO), in Greensboro in Guilford County, North Carolina.

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Station Emerald Isle seeking Department of the Army (DA) authorization to perform maintenance dredging from 10,000 cubic yards to 80,000 cubic yards (pending on shoaling amounts) within navigable waters pursuant to Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act with the potential of disposing the material in waters subject to both Section 10 and Section404 of the Clean Water Act. The proposal allows for maintenance dredging to be repeated as necessary over the next ten years within the Coast Guard Channel/Bogue Inlet Channel and the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway (AIWW), near Emerald Isle, Carteret County, North Carolina.

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from Mr. Richard V. Scarborough (applicant) seeking Department of the Army authorization to fill 0.25 acres of wetlands, associated with the expansion of an existing boat building business in Wanchese, Dare County, North Carolina. The applicant previously filled 0.29 acres of wetlands on the property without authorization from the Corps, and was issued a notice of violation of Section 301 of the Clean Water Act (33 USC 1311) on September 27, 2018. The applicant’s current proposal includes the restoration of 0.15 acres of previously-filled wetlands, as well as additional filling of 0.1 acres of wetlands, resulting in a total of 0.25 acres of permanent wetland impacts.

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NC DOT) seeking Department of the Army authorization to reconstruct the I-40/I-77 Interchange in Statesville, Iredell County, North Carolina. The project would result in permanent impacts to 3,194 linear feet of stream channel (1,019 linear feet of which is bank stabilization), temporary impacts to 394 linear feet of stream channel, permanent fill of 1.06 acres of wetlands, mechanized clearing of 0.33 acre of wetlands, and temporary impacts to 2.56 acres of wetlands (hand-clearing). Utility impacts include an additional permanent fill of <0.01 acre of wetlands, mechanized clearing of 0.02 acre of wetlands and temporary impacts to 0.27 acre of wetlands.

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from the Town of Smithfield seeking Department of the Army authorization to discharge dredged or fill material into waters of the United States, associated with the expansion of the existing Smithfield Water Treatment Plant (WTP) raw water reservoir. The proposed project is located in the Town of Smithfield, in Johnston County, North Carolina.
