As used by the Corps, the term "public notice" is an official, required government announcement of a proposed agency action, decision made or under consideration, public hearing or other activity.  Please download the attachment(s) associated with notice for the complete, formatted, public notice with tables, illustrations, maps and plans.

    The Wilmington District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) has received an application from the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) seeking Department of the Army authorization to permanently impact 14,831 linear feet of stream and 2.91 acres of wetland along 22.2 miles of I-26 from US 25, south of Hendersonville, to I-40/I-240, south of Asheville, to improve existing and projected roadway capacity deficiencies and improve insufficient pavement structure and deteriorating existing road surface conditions in Henderson and Buncombe Counties, North Carolina (STIP Nos. I-4400/I-4700).

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application for a modification to an existing Department of Army (DA) permit from Duke Energy seeking Department of the Army authorization to discharge dredged or fill material into waters and wetlands in Hydrologic Unit Code (HUC) 03010103 (Roanoke River Basin), associated with activities related to the excavation and disposal of coal combustion residual (CCR) materials from areas of coal ash fill, and closure of the primary and secondary coal ash basins, at the Duke Energy Dan River Steam Station, in Rockingham County, North Carolina.

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from Duke Energy seeking Department of the Army authorization to discharge dredged or fill material into waters of the United States, associated with the construction of the Cape Fear Plant 1985 Basin Haul Road Project, a new haul road between the existing coal ashbasins and a proposed staged turbulent air reactor (STAR) coal ash processing facility in Chatham County, North Carolina.

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from the North Carolina Department of Transportation seeking Department of the Army authorization to permanently fill 1,335 linear feet of stream channel, 401 linear feet of stream bank stabilization, 0.23 acres of riparian wetlands, and 0.07 acres of open water for the construction of a road extension for SR 1316 (Rea Rd.) on new location from NC 16 in Weddington to NC 84 (the new location roadway would be designated as NC 84) and widen the existing NC 84 to just beyond SR 1008 (Waxhaw-Indian Trail Rd.) in Wesley Chapel. In addition, a roundabout is proposed at Hardwood Drive. The project also includes the temporary fill of 224 linear feet of stream, 0.02 acres of open water and approximately 20 linear feet of stream channel for utility relocations and construction (water and sewer). The project is referred to as NC DOT, U 3467, and the impacts are within the Catawba River Basin (HUC 03050103). The project would impact Mundy’s Run, Culvert Branch, the West Fork of Twelvemile Creek, and their unnamed tributaries and associated wetlands, in Union County, North Carolina.

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from Publix Super Markets, Inc. and the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) seeking Department of the Army authorization to discharge dredged or fill material into a total of 4,800 linear feet of stream channel, 0.91 acre of riparian non-riverine wetlands, and 1.8 acres of open water impoundments, associated with developing a grocery distribution center in Guilford County, North Carolina.
