As used by the Corps, the term "public notice" is an official, required government announcement of a proposed agency action, decision made or under consideration, public hearing or other activity.  Please download the attachment(s) associated with notice for the complete, formatted, public notice with tables, illustrations, maps and plans.

  • SAW-2007-01841

    Expiration date: 4/16/2018

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from Martin Marietta Materials, Inc. seeking Department of the Army (DA) authorization to impact 1,887 linear feet (lf) of stream for a proposed mine expansion, associated with the Salem Stone Quarry, in Kernersville, in Forsyth County, North Carolina. Note that the Salem Stone Quarry Mine Expansion was previously authorized under the same Corps Action ID (SAW-2007-01841) on November 6, 2007, with an expiration date of December 31, 2012. However, the project was not completed before the permit’s expiration. The applicant is seeking authorization to complete the work that was previously authorized under the expired permit.

    Expiration date: 4/12/2018

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), seeking Department of the Army (DA) authorization to permanently impact 0.42 acres of jurisdictional wetlands, temporarily impact 1.49 acres of jurisdictional wetlands, hand clear 0.46 acres of wetlands, permanently impact 0.11 acres of surface waters and temporarily impact 10.07 acres of surface waters. Additionally 2.57 aces of submerged aquatic vegetation (SAV) will be permanently impacted and 3.07 acres of SAV will be temporarily impacted associated with construction of TIP Project B-2500B Phase IIb the NC 12 Rodanthe Bridge Project north of Rodanthe, in Dare County, North Carolina. (NCDOT TIP No. B-2500B).

    Expiration date: 4/2/2018

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from the Military Ocean Terminal Sunny Point (MOTSU) seeking Department of the Army authorization to conduct routine transport and disposal of dredged material to the Wilmington Ocean Dredged Material Disposal Site (ODMDS) located approximately 7 to 12.5 miles south of Bald Head Island in the Atlantic Ocean. This request is associated with maintenance dredging of the existing access channels, connecting channels, and basins at their navigation and loading facilities in the MOTSU harbor in Brunswick County, North Carolina.

    Expiration date: 4/1/2018

    All interested parties are hereby advised that the Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) is releasing the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) for the project, known as Bogue Banks Master Beach Nourishment Project (BBMBNP), and has received an application from Carteret County requesting Department of the Army authorization to implement a long-term management plan to provide shoreline protection along the approximately 25-mile Bogue Banks barrier island, Carteret County, North Carolina. Management components include the use of an offshore borrow area for periodic nourishment along approximately 18 miles of Pine Knoll Shores, Salter Path, Indian Beach, and Emerald Isle, with potential supplemental nourishment along approximately 5 miles of Atlantic Beach if needed. The plan also consists of the maintenance of Bogue Inlet ebb tide channel within a “safe box” zone to protect the inlet shoreline of Emerald Isle. Specific details and location information are described below and shown on the attached plan.     Expiration date: 3/26/2018

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from Edgecombe County and the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) seeking Department of the Army authorization to discharge fill material into waters of the United States associated with the proposed construction of a tire manufacturing facility, railway access, and associated roadway construction for site access on the Kingsboro CSX Select site. Specifically, the project would permanently impact 5.23 acres of open water pond, 9.12 acres of wetlands, and 2,769 linear feet of stream draining to Walnut Creek and Penders Mill Run located north of US Highway 64, approximately 5 miles east of Rocky Mount, in Kingsboro, Edgecombe County, North Carolina.
