Regulatory Public Notices

As used by the Corps, the term "public notice" is an official, required government announcement of a proposed agency action, decision made or under consideration, public hearing or other activity.  Please download the attachment(s) associated with notice for the complete, formatted, public notice with tables, illustrations, maps and plans.

Mitigation Public Notices

  • SAW-2015-2160

    Expiration date: 5/21/2018

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from Mr. Andrew K. Sandman seeking Department of the Army authorization to permanently impact 200 linear feet of stream channel, 0.11 acre of scrub shrub wetlands, and 0.9 acre of open waters after-the-fact. Additional impacts to 93 linear feet of stream channel and 0.01 acre of forested wetlands are also proposed. Impacts to jurisdictional waters on site are associated with the construction of a residential subdivision, near the town of Apex, in Wake County, North Carolina.

    All interested parties are hereby advised that the Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps), at the request of the Town of Holden Beach, is withdrawing the permit application to implement a shoreline protection project along the east end of the island, including the construction of a terminal groin along the Lockwoods Folly Inlet, in Brunswick County, North Carolina. The Corps is no longer seeking comments and has ceased our permit review for the Town’s proposal.

    All interested parties are hereby advised that the Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) is extending the commenting period on the permit application request made by the Town of Holden Beach for the Town’s plan to implement a shoreline protection project along the east end of the island, which consist of the construction of a terminal groin along the Lockwood Folly Inlet, in Brunswick County, North Carolina. This notice amends our March 15, 2018 Public Notice seeking comments on the Town’s permit request and extends that notice’s commenting period to May 4, 2018. The Final EIS is available on our webpage, and can be found at http://www.saw.usace.army.mil/Missions/RegulatoryPermitProgram/MajorProjects . This Public Notice Amendment, along with the March 15, 2018 Pubic Notice, is also available on the Wilmington District Web Site at http://www.saw.usace.army.mil/Missions/Regulatory-Permit-Program/Public-Notices/. Any written comments pertinent to the proposed work must be submitted to this office, Attention: Mr. Mickey Sugg, 69 Darlington Avenue, Wilmington NC 28403 or by email to mickey.t.sugg@usace.army.mil by 5:00 p.m., on May 4, 2018.     The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from the City of Raleigh seeking Department of the Army authorization to impact 512 linear feet (lf) of perennial stream channel, associated with the proposed improvements and expansion of the E.M. Johnson Water Treatment Plant (WTP), an 86 million gallons per day (mgd) treatment facility, at 10301 Falls of Neuse Road in Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina.

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received information from the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) regarding a potential future requirement for Department of the Army authorization to discharge dredged or fill material into waters of the United States, associated with widening of US 158 (Reidsville Road) to a multi-lane facility, from the existing multi-lane section north of I-40 Business/US 421 in Forsyth County to US 220 in Guilford County. A new location bypass around Stokesdale, Guilford County, is also proposed as part of this project. (STIP Project Number R-2577).
