As used by the Corps, the term "public notice" is an official, required government announcement of a proposed agency action, decision made or under consideration, public hearing or other activity.  Please download the attachment(s) associated with notice for the complete, formatted, public notice with tables, illustrations, maps and plans.

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from Mr. Jack Garvey of Hanson Aggregates Southeast, LLC seeking Department of the Army authorization to mechanically landclear and discharge fill material into 2,523 linear feet of jurisdictional streams and 0.04 acre of jurisdictional wetlands, associated with the Crabtree Quarry Expansion, in Raleigh, in Wake County, North Carolina.

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from the Town of Holden Beach (Town) seeking Department of the Army authorization to discharge fill material into waters of the United States, associated with the construction of a 700-ft-long terminal groin with a 300-ft shore anchorage system and associated longterm beach nourishment component, in order to address erosion and protect infrastructure, roads, homes, beaches, dunes and wildlife habitat in Holden Beach, Brunswick County, North Carolina. Specific plans and location information are described below and shown on the attached plans.

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) has received a prospectus proposing to establish a 260-acre stream and wetland mitigation bank, known as Falling Creek Mitigation Bank (Bank) and located in the Upper Neuse 8-digit Hydrologic Unit Code (HUC) 3020201 of the Neuse River Basin.

  • Public Notice - Guidance on the Use of Preliminary Jurisdictional Determinations

    Expiration date: 10/31/2015

    With the passing of the renewable energy tax incentive, the District has experienced a significant increase in requests for Approved Jurisdictional Determinations (AJDs) associated with the potential construction of solar energy facilities. Many of these requests are not accompanied by development plans, and are for speculative leasing for solar panel/renewable energy production. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Wilmington District (District) is issuing this public notice to clarify when it is appropriate to request Preliminary Jurisdictional Determinations (PJDs) in lieu of AJDs for the purpose of expediting the District’s review so that project proponents can move forward with development activities without incurring undue delays.
