Regulatory Public Notices

As used by the Corps, the term "public notice" is an official, required government announcement of a proposed agency action, decision made or under consideration, public hearing or other activity.  Please download the attachment(s) associated with notice for the complete, formatted, public notice with tables, illustrations, maps and plans.

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) has received an application from the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) regarding a potential future requirement for Department of the Army (DA) authorization to discharge dredged or fill material into waters of the United States associated with the proposed conversion of the Liberty Road (SR 1228) overpass to an interchange with I-40 in Buncombe County, North Carolina [State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) Number I-4759]. This project would also involve the realignment (part of the road on new location) and improvement of Liberty Road between US 19/23/NC 151 and Monte Vista Road (SR 1224).

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) has received an application from the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) seeking Department of the Army authorization to permanently impact 1,888 linear feet of stream, 0.02 acre of wetland, and 0.03 acre of open water (pond) in order to reduce projected traffic congestion at the Interstate 26 (I-26)/NC 191 interchange in Asheville, Buncombe County, North Carolina (STIP No. I-5504).

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application for a modification to an existing Department of Army (DA) permit from the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), seeking Department of the Army authorization to permanently discharge fill material into 1,683 linear feet of jurisdictional stream channel, 2.84 acres of adjacent wetlands, 0.28 acre of jurisdictional open waters and temporarily discharge fill material into 271 linear feet of jurisdictional stream channel. This permit modification is associated with Transportation Improvement Project (TIP) R-2814C, the third phase (Phase C) of the construction of improvements to US 401 between Raleigh and Louisburg. This third phase involves widening of 6.6 miles of US 401 from NC 96 (Zebulon Road) to SR 1103 (Flat Rock Church Road/Clifton Pond Road), in Wake and Franklin Counties, North Carolina.

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), seeking Department of the Army (DA) authorization to permanently impact 1.31 acres of jurisdictional wetlands and 270 linear feet of jurisdictional streams associated with construction of the NC 125 Williamston Bypass from SR 1182 (East College Road) southwest of Williamston to NC 125 northwest of Williamston, Martin County, North Carolina. (NCDOT TIP No. R-3826)

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application for a modification to an existing Department of Army (DA) permit from the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) seeking Department of the Army authorization to permanently discharge fill material into 4,916 linear feet of jurisdictional stream channel, 1.23 acres of adjacent wetlands, 1.37 acres of jurisdictional open waters and temporarily discharge fill material into 700 linear feet of jurisdictional stream channel. This permit modification is associated with Transportation Improvement Project (TIP) R-0623, the construction of a partial widening of NC 24/27 and southern bypass to the town of Troy. The widening project begins along existing NC 24/27 west of SR 1138 (Dairy Road) and continues east for approximately 1.3 miles, turns south for a 4.5 mile new location section (south of downtown Troy), and then ties back into NC 24/27 for an approximate 0.9 mile widening to just east of the Little River, in Montgomery County, North Carolina.
