As used by the Corps, the term "public notice" is an official, required government announcement of a proposed agency action, decision made or under consideration, public hearing or other activity.  Please download the attachment(s) associated with notice for the complete, formatted, public notice with tables, illustrations, maps and plans.

    Expiration date: 10/10/2013

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from the North Carolina Department of Transportation seeking Department of the Army authorization to permanently impact 12,912 linear feet of jurisdictional streams, temporarily impact 1,151 linear feet of jurisdictional streams, permanently impact 5.48 acres of adjacent wetlands, temporarily impact 0.18 acre of adjacent wetlands and permanently impact 0.6 acres of jurisdictional open waters. These impacts are associated with project R-2413A&B, which is the construction of the NC 68/US 22 Connector from SR 2011 (Edgefield Road) to US 220, near Greensboro, Guilford County, North Carolina.

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) seeking Department of the Army authorization to impact waters of the U.S. associated with widening approximately 7.5 miles of US Highway 19E from SR 1186, west of Micaville in Yancey County, to the existing multilane section west of Spruce Pine in Mitchell County, North Carolina. The project would result in permanent impacts to approximately 7,256 linear feet (lf) of stream and 0.15 acre of wetland, and temporary impacts to 1,360 lf of stream and <0.01 acre of surface waters.

    All interested parties are hereby advised that the Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) has published a Notice of Intent (NOI) in the Federal Register to prepare a Supplement of the July 2011 Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the North Carolina Department of Transportation project U-4751 and R-3300 which begins at Military Cutoff Road in Wilmington and extends around Hampstead and ties back into Highway 17 below the Holly Shelter Gamelands in New Hanover and Pender Counties. The main purpose of the proposed project is to improve the traffic carrying capacity and safety of the US 17 and Market Street corridor in the study area. The Draft supplement will address changes in the project resulting from community input and necessary design changes to create a functional project. These changes include new lanes and an interchange between Topsail High School and the terminus of the project near Holly Shelter Gamelands. These changes were not discussed or conceptualized in the release of the DEIS and thus it is necessary to produce this Supplement of the Draft to solicit public input before the Final Environmental Impact Statement.

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from the North Carolina Department of Transportation seeking Department of the Army authorization to hydraulic dredge 1.7 million cubic yards of beach compatible sand from an offshore borrow source located within the Wimble Shoals area or within the Oregon Inlet Federal Navigation Channel and place the material along 2.13 miles of beach adjacent to NC Highway 12 impacting approximately 64 acres of jurisdictional waters below mean high water, associated with an emergency beach repair/nourishment project along NC Highway 12 in Dare County, North Carolina.

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) regarding a potential future requirement for Department of the Army (DA) authorization to discharge dredged or fill material into waters of the United States associated with reconstruction of US 17 Business/ NC 37 (North Church Street) from south of the Perquimans River bridge to NC 37 between Hertford and Winfall in Perquimans County, North Carolina.
