As used by the Corps, the term "public notice" is an official, required government announcement of a proposed agency action, decision made or under consideration, public hearing or other activity.  Please download the attachment(s) associated with notice for the complete, formatted, public notice with tables, illustrations, maps and plans.

    Expiration date: 5/3/2021

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from the Town of Kitty Hawk seeking Department of the Army authorization to dredge 2.282 million cubic yards of beach quality sediments from an offshore borrow source, and deposit the material along approximately 3.77-mile section of oceanfront shoreline, in the Town of Kitty Hawk, Dare County, North Carolina. The Bureau of Ocean and Energy Management (BOEM) and the Corps will be cooperating agencies during the environmental review of this project as the offshore sand resources are located on the Outer Continental Shelf and fall within BOEM’s jurisdiction. BOEM and the Corps will be joint lead agencies for National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) purposes, and would prepare, in coordination with the applicant/agent, joint NEPA documents.

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from the Town of Southern Shores seeking Department of the Army authorization to dredge 1.824 million cubic yards of beach quality sediments from an offshore borrow source, and deposit the material along approximately 3.9-mile section of oceanfront shoreline, in the Town of Southern Shores, Dare County, North Carolina. The Bureau of Ocean and Energy Management (BOEM) and the Corps will be cooperating agencies during the environmental review of this project as the offshore sand resources are located on the Outer Continental Shelf and fall within BOEM’s jurisdiction. BOEM and the Corps will be joint lead agencies for National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) purposes, and would prepare, in coordination with the applicant/agent, joint NEPA documents.

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from the Town of Duck seeking Department of the Army authorization to dredge 1.273 million cubic yards of beach quality sediments from an offshore borrow source, and deposit the material along approximately 2.74-mile section of oceanfront shoreline, in the Town of Kill Devil Hills, Dare County, North Carolina. The Bureau of Ocean and Energy Management (BOEM) and the Corps will be cooperating agencies during the environmental review of this project as the offshore sand resources are located on the Outer Continental Shelf and fall within BOEM’s jurisdiction. BOEM and the Corps will be joint lead agencies for National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) purposes, and would prepare, in coordination with the applicant/agent, joint NEPA documents.

BOEM and the Corps will be joint lead agencies for National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) purposes, and would prepare, in coordination with the applicant/agent, joint NEPA documents.

  • Regional General Permit Renewals

    Expiration date: 4/28/2021

    The DISTRICT ENGINEER, WILMINGTON DISTRICT, 69 Darlington Avenue, Wilmington North Carolina 28403, hereby proposes to renew, with modifications, ten Regional General Permits and one Programmatic General Permit pursuant to Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899 (33 U.S.C 403) and Section 404 of the Clean Water Act (33 U.S.C 1344). Title 33, Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Paragraph 325, authorizes issuance of general (regional) permits for activities, which are substantially similar in nature and cause minimal individual and cumulative environmental impacts.
