Regulatory Public Notices

As used by the Corps, the term "public notice" is an official, required government announcement of a proposed agency action, decision made or under consideration, public hearing or other activity.  Please download the attachment(s) associated with notice for the complete, formatted, public notice with tables, illustrations, maps and plans.

  • SAW-2006-41158

    Expiration date: 8/1/2016

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) published the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) for the Figure Eight Island Shoreline Management Project. Comments will be reviewed until August 1, 2016, The Corps received an application from the Figure “8” Beach Homeowners Association, Inc. (HOA) requesting Department of the Army authorization to protect residential homes and infrastructures by installing a terminal groin structure along the southern shoulder of Rich Inlet and to conduct a supplemental beach nourishment on approximately 4,500 linear feet of oceanfront beach and 1,400 linear feet of back barrier shoreline on Figure Eight Island, in New Hanover County, North Carolina. Specific details and location information are described below and shown on the attached plan. The FEIS has been placed on our webpage, and can be found at http://www.saw.usace.army.mil/Missions/RegulatoryPermitProgram/MajorProjects, click on “Figure Eight Island Terminal Groin Project: Corps ID # SAW-2006-41158”.

  • SAW-2012-00417

    Expiration date: 7/28/2016

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from North Carolina Department of Transportation, Mr. Philip Harris, P.E., Project Development and Environmental Analysis Unit, 1548 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, North Carolina 27699-1548 seeking Department of the Army authorization for the permanent impact to 2,209 linear feet of stream channel (of which 255 linear feet is bank stabilization) and the permanent impact to 0.05 acres of wetland. The proposed impacts are associated with the NC 3 (Mooresville Road) Improvement Project (TIP# U-3440) which starts at Kannapolis Parkway and extends 2.6 miles to terminate at Dale Earnhardt Boulevard/Loop Road in Kannapolis, Cabarrus County, North Carolina.

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from Pender Farm Development, LLC seeking Department of the Army authorization to impact waters and wetlands of the US, associated with the development of a 191 lot residential development in Scott’s Hill, Pender County, North Carolina.

  • 2017 Nationwide Permits Re-authorization

    Expiration date: 8/1/2016

    On June 1, 2016, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers published in the Federal Register its proposal to reissue the 50 existing nationwide permits (NWPs) and issue two new NWPs. On June 7, 2016, the Wilmington District proposed renewal of and revision to the regional general conditions added to the Nationwide Permits, for work in federal waters in NC, to ensure that no more than minimal impacts occur to the aquatic environment, as intended by this program. The District set up a web page to track the re-authorization process.

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) has received an application from the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) regarding a potential future requirement for Department of the Army (DA) authorization to discharge dredged or fill material into waters of the United States associated with the proposed widening of US 701 Bypass in Whiteville, Columbus County, North Carolina, TIP No. R-5020.
