As used by the Corps, the term "public notice" is an official, required government announcement of a proposed agency action, decision made or under consideration, public hearing or other activity.  Please download the attachment(s) associated with notice for the complete, formatted, public notice with tables, illustrations, maps and plans.

Mitigation Public Notices

  • SAW-2011-01922

    Expiration date: 4/18/2014

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps)received an application from the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) seeking Department of the Army authorization to discharge dredged or fill material into waters and wetlands adjacent to Honey Island Swamp to replace Bridge #16 and Bridge #20 located on NC Highway 211 just south of the Columbus County line in Brunswick County.

    The District Engineer has received a prospectus describing the establishment of a compensatory umbrella mitigation bank in Chatham County, North Carolina to offset future state and federal permits. Also received is a mitigation plan for the first site, Hoosier Dam, proposed for inclusion into the bank.

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from Mr. William Lane seeking Department of the Army authorization to fill 0.25 acre of wetland within the floodplain of Little River, associated with a commercial development in Goldsboro, Wayne County, North Carolina.

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from the North Carolina Department of Transportation seeking Department of the Army authorization to permanently impact 9.13 acres of jurisdictional wetlands and 82 linear feet of jurisdictional waters, associated with construction of a 3.33 mile long two lane connector from US 64 to the intersection of NC 32 and NC 94 in Washington County, North Carolina.

    All interested parties are herby advised that the Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) is extending the commenting period on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the project, known as Village of Bald Head Island Shoreline Protection Project, that plans to install a 1,900-ft terminal groin structure as well as creation and maintenance of an updrift sand fillet on the western end of South Beach, on Bald Head Island, in Brunswick County, North Carolina. This notice amends our January 10, 2014 Public Notice seeking comments on the project and extends the commenting period to March 17, 2014. A Public Hearing for the DEIS will be held at the International Longshoreman’s Association Hall, located at 211 West 10th Street in Southport, NC on March 4, 2014, at 6:00 pm.
