As used by the Corps, the term "public notice" is an official, required government announcement of a proposed agency action, decision made or under consideration, public hearing or other activity.  Please download the attachment(s) associated with notice for the complete, formatted, public notice with tables, illustrations, maps and plans.

    Expiration date: 3/17/2014

    All interested parties are herby advised that the Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) is extending the commenting period on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the project, known as Village of Bald Head Island Shoreline Protection Project, that plans to install a 1,900-ft terminal groin structure as well as creation and maintenance of an updrift sand fillet on the western end of South Beach, on Bald Head Island, in Brunswick County, North Carolina. This notice amends our January 10, 2014 Public Notice seeking comments on the project and extends the commenting period to March 17, 2014. A Public Hearing for the DEIS will be held at the International Longshoreman’s Association Hall, located at 211 West 10th Street in Southport, NC on March 4, 2014, at 6:00 pm.

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from Swansboro Investors, LLC seeking Department of the Army authorization to permanently discharge dredged or fill material into 0.86 acre of waters of the U.S., associated with the construction of a big-box store along NC Highway 24 in Swansboro, Onslow County, North Carolina.

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) has received an application from the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) seeking Department of the Army authorization to permanently impact 9,800 linear feet of jurisdictional stream channel, an additional 1,553 linear feet of temporary stream channel impact, permanently impact 1.96 acres of jurisdictional wetlands, and 4.36 acres of open water impact (ponds), associated with the proposed construction of the Winston-Salem Northern Beltway Eastern Section from US 158 to 1-40 Bus/US 421 (Section B for a total of 3.4 miles), east of Winston-Salem, in Forsyth County, North Carolina. The NCDOT has identified this project as TIP U-2579B.

    All interested parties are hereby advised that the Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) is extending the January 10, 2014 Public Notice commenting period for the Town of North Topsail Beach’s request to modify the May 27, 2011 Department of the Army to relocate the New River Inlet ebb tide channel and to conduct beach nourishment along 11.1 miles of North Topsail Beach oceanfront shoreline in Onslow County, North Carolina. The proposed modification request is to combine Phase 3 and 5 sections into a single dredging event. All plans described in the January 10, 2014 Public Notice remain the same with the exception that the Town proposes to extend their dredging window from November 16th - March 31st to November 16th to April 30th. This proposed window extension is to ensure that Phase 3 and Phase 5 can be completed during one dredging cycle. This notice amends our January 10, 2014 Public Notice seeking comments on the modification project and extends the commenting period to February 28, 2014.
