As used by the Corps, the term "public notice" is an official, required government announcement of a proposed agency action, decision made or under consideration, public hearing or other activity.  Please download the attachment(s) associated with notice for the complete, formatted, public notice with tables, illustrations, maps and plans.

    Expiration date: 6/5/2017

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) has received an application from the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) regarding a potential future requirement for Department of the Army (DA) authorization to discharge dredged or fill material into waters of the United States associated with the proposed conversion of the Liberty Road (SR 1228) overpass to an interchange with I-40 in Buncombe County, North Carolina [State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) Number I-4759]. This project would also involve the realignment (part of the road on new location) and improvement of Liberty Road between US 19/23/NC 151 and Monte Vista Road (SR 1224).

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from Orton Plantation Holdings, LLC, seeking Department of the Army authorization to permanently impact 1.2 acres of wetlands and temporarily impact 24.2 acres of wetlands, associated with restoring and protecting a historic rice field within Pleasant Oaks Plantation in Brunswick County, North Carolina.

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from Mr. James Randy Miller seeking Department of the Army authorization to impact 220 linear feet of stream channel resulting from the construction of two poultry houses in Yadkinville, Yadkin County, North Carolina.

    Expiration date: 3/9/2017

    On November 19, 2014, the Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) issued a permit to the Village of Bald Head Island for the construction of a terminal groin along with dredging, groin fillet maintenance and beach nourishment. On January 5, 2017, the Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers, received a request from the Village of Bald Head Island to dredge Frying Pan Shoals and discharge the dredged material along the shoreline of Bald Head Island, including West Beach and South Beach, for groin fillet maintenance and beach nourishment.

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) has received an application for a modification to an existing Department of Army (DA) permit from Newland Communities seeking Department of the Army authorization to permanently impact an additional 110 linear feet of jurisdictional stream channel and 72 square feet of jurisdictional wetlands. This modification is to the permit associated with the construction of the Briar Chapel Development in Chatham County, North Carolina. The modification is for 5 new sites (identified as V,W,X,Y,Z) that account for 377 linear feet of permanent stream impacts and 464 square feet of permanent wetland impacts. However, all permanent stream and wetland impacts previously permitted under the existing DA permit were not undertaken by the applicant. As such, the total amount of additional permanent stream impacts is 110 linear feet and the total amount additional permanent wetland impact is 72 square feet.
