As used by the Corps, the term "public notice" is an official, required government announcement of a proposed agency action, decision made or under consideration, public hearing or other activity.  Please download the attachment(s) associated with notice for the complete, formatted, public notice with tables, illustrations, maps and plans.

Mitigation Public Notices

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) revised the documents and forms associated with Obtaining a Jurisdictional Determination. These documents supersede the Wilmington District's previous guidance document for Obtaining a Jurisdictional Determination, dated July 25, 2005.     The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from Partners Equity Group seeking Department of the Army authorization to mitigate for permitted impacts to 1.53 acres of non riparian wetlands by preserving 32 acres of riparian wetlands in Johnston County, North Carolina. The applicant is also requesting the modification of a condition requiring the remaining wetlands on site to be preserved by restrictive covenants.

    This Public Notice is being issued to acknowledge that the Wilmington District Regulatory Division (District) was requested by the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) to issue an emergency (Section 404 of the Clean Act and Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act) permit to place, via pipe line dredge, 30,000 cubic yards of sand adjacent to the Herbert C. Bonner Bridge at Bent #166, Oregon Inlet, Dare County, North Carolina. On December 3, 2013, NCDOT closed Herbert C. Bonner Bridge because of safety concerns due to erosion and scouring around Bent #166. The NCDOT proposed this project in order to place sand material at this location to fill in the scour hole and stabilize the bridge.

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), seeking Department of the Army authorization to impact waters of the United States, associated with the proposed construction of a section of the Greensboro Eastern Loop from US 70 Relocation to SR 2303 (Lawndale Drive) in Greensboro, Guilford County, North Carolina. The project is proposed to be a four lane freeway from US 70 Relocation to US 29 and a six-lane freeway from US 29 to Lawndale Drive. It is on new location and totals 9.7 miles in length. This project is referred to as Transportation Improvement Project (TIP) U-2525 BC. Section B begins at US 70 Relocation and terminates at US 29 and Section C begins at US 29 and ends at SR 2303 (Lawndale Drive). Permit drawings of the proposed project have been prepared based on final design for U-2525B and functional design for U-2525C.
