Regulatory Public Notices

As used by the Corps, the term "public notice" is an official, required government announcement of a proposed agency action, decision made or under consideration, public hearing or other activity.  Please download the attachment(s) associated with notice for the complete, formatted, public notice with tables, illustrations, maps and plans.

  • SAW-2025-01509 Village of Buxton Shoreline Projection Project

    Expiration date: 9/13/2025

    The Wilmington District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) has received an application for a Department of the Army permit pursuant to Section 404 of the Clean Water Act (33 U.S.C. §1344) and Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899 (33 U.S.C. §403). The purpose is to provide shoreline protection of NC Highway 12 and maintain oceanfront and dune systems to protect beach front infrastructure and provide storm damage reduction to public and private development in the Village of Buxton, Dare County, North Carolina. The applicant requests authorization to place sand along a 2.9-mile section of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore and the Village of Buxton’s oceanfront shoreline. Beach quality sand would be dredged using a self-contained ocean-certified hopper dredge and/or a hydraulic pipeline dredge. Material would be obtained from a borrow area approximately 2-3 miles offshore of Buxton. Placement onto the beach would be accomplished via submerged pipeline with direct pump-out.
