Regulatory Public Notices

As used by the Corps, the term "public notice" is an official, required government announcement of a proposed agency action, decision made or under consideration, public hearing or other activity.  Please download the attachment(s) associated with notice for the complete, formatted, public notice with tables, illustrations, maps and plans.

Mitigation Public Notices

  • SAW-2008-02698

    Expiration date: 5/30/2019

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from Bailey & Fuller Properties, LLC seeking to modify the Department of the Army authorization issued on January 30, 2017 for the construction of the Bailey Center commercial development located at 810 West Corbett Avenue (Hwy 24), Swansboro, Onslow County, NC. The modification request is to discharge fill material into 0.23 acres of wetlands to facilitate expansion of the Bailey Center, which includes the construction of a multipurpose building with six units, a mini storage facility, associated parking, roads and a reconfigured stormwater facility.

    The United States Army Corps of Engineers – Wilmington District (Corps) published on April 9, 2019, for public comment, the Town of Beech Mountain’s proposal to modify a minimum flow release permit condition of a previously issued standard permit which authorized the construction of Buckeye Reservoir, in the Beech Mountain community of Avery County, North Carolina. The public comment period on this proposal has been extended until June 6, 2019. All aspects of the proposal, described in the original public notice, remain unchanged and may be referenced at: http://saw-reg.usace.army.mil/PN/2019/SAW-2018-02144-PN.pdf Any written comments pertinent to the proposed work must be submitted to the Asheville Regulatory Field Office, Attention: Ms. Amanda Jones, 151 Patton Avenue, Room 208, Asheville, North Carolina 28801-5006 by 5:00 p.m., on June 6, 2019.   • SAW-2012-00882

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) has received an application for a modification and extension to an existing Department of Army (DA) permit from the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), seeking authorization to permanently impact 1,366 linear feet (lf) of stream, 0.46 acre (ac) of permanent impacts to wetlands and 0.07 ac of temporary impacts to streams, associated with Section E of the proposed widening of US 221 to a four-lane, median-divided facility. The US221 widening was separated into Sections A-E and the original permit, issued January 7, 2015 presented final impacts for R-2915A, R-2915B and R-2915D. The final impacts were authorized for R-2915C on August 31, 2016. This modification request presents the final design impacts for R-2915E, a 3.3 mile section of the US221 widening, from the US 221 bypass to the US 221 Business/NC 88 intersection in the town of Jefferson in Ashe County, North Carolina.

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) has received an application from the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NC DOT) regarding a potential future requirement for Department of the Army (DA) authorization to discharge dredged or fill material into waters of the United States associated with the proposed R-5706 A & B, NC 73 widening projects. Four (4) build alternatives and the No Build alternative are being considered at this time. The project is located in Mecklenburg and Cabarrus Counties, North Carolina.

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from the North Carolina State Ports Authority (NC SPA) seeking Department of the Army authorization to reauthorize an existing permit, associated with maintenance dredging within waters adjacent to the Port of Morehead City dock and berth areas, in Carteret County, North Carolina.
