• Contract awarded for maintenance dredging of Atlantic Intercoastal Waterway

    On 15 September 2021, a contract for the maintenance dredging of the Atlantic Intercoastal Waterway was awarded to Southwind Construction Corporation for $3,808,485. The contract covers several North Carolina counties including Brunswick, Carteret, Onslow, and Pender County.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Wilmington District and the Town of Holden Beach will host a Feasibility Cost Sharing Agreement signing ceremony, Friday August 27, 2021 at 1:30pm at the picnic shelter across the street from Town Hall, located at 119 Davis St, Holden Beach, NC.
  • Temporary flow adjustments for maintenance work being done at Philpott

    Maintenance work is being performed at Philpott Dam to replace and upgrade the doors which access the generating units.
  • Contract for various environmental services awarded

    The United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) awarded an environmental services contract on 30 July 2021 to DDC Construction Services LLC (DBA DDC 4C).
  • Reopening of Visitor Centers

    The visitor centers will be reopening at W. Kerr Scott Lake, Philpott Lake, Falls Lake, B. Everett Jordan Lake, and John H. Kerr Dam and Lake.
  • Philpott Lake and Dam Water Storage Reallocation Public Scoping Session

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Wilmington District, will hold a Public Scoping Session on April 15, 2021 at 6 p.m. at the Henry County Administrative Building, 1st Floor Conference Room, 3300 Kings Mountain Road, Martinsville, VA to discuss a Water Storage Reallocation Feasibility Study at Philpott Lake and Dam located in Patrick, Franklin, and Henry Counties in Virginia. The scoping session will also be broadcast via Facebook live-stream for those unable to attend in person.
  • Philpott day use parks are going cashless

    New autopay machines were installed at two Philpott Lake parks managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). These machines will replace the Honor Vault at Ramp 1 and the gate attendant at Bowens Creek Park. All fees for these parks will be processed through the machines.
  • Corps to host virtual public involvement meetings for the Neuse River Basin Flood Risk Management Project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) is hosting three public involvement meetings to gather information and receive feedback on its progress for the Neuse River Basin Flood Risk Management Project and feasibility study. The meetings are organized by geographic region, and will be held virtually via a Facebook Live Stream on March 29 and 31, and April 1, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  • Corps to host virtual public meetings for Tar Pamlico River Basin feasibility study

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is conducting a feasibility study on the Tar Pamlico River Basin and will host a series of virtual public involvement meetings to gather community input on the feasibility study. This particular study is being led by our Pittsburgh District with the combined resources of Wilmington District. It is not uncommon for the Corps of Engineers to share resources between districts. This is just one example of USACE’s ability to bring the full force of the entire enterprise to meet any challenge.
  • Deep Draft Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact

    On Thursday, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Wilmington District, published a final Deep Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) and a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) describing the actions to eliminate the historic hopper dredging window (1 December – 15 April) and to add the bed leveling technique for maintenance of the outer portions of the Wilmington and Morehead City Harbors.
