Corps to host virtual public involvement meetings for the Neuse River Basin Flood Risk Management Project
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) is hosting three public involvement meetings to gather information and receive feedback on its progress for the Neuse River Basin Flood Risk Management Project and feasibility study. The meetings are organized by geographic region, and will be held virtually via a Facebook Live Stream on March 29 and 31, and April 1, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Corps to host virtual public meetings for Tar Pamlico River Basin feasibility study
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is conducting a feasibility study on the Tar Pamlico River Basin and will host a series of virtual public involvement meetings to gather community input on the feasibility study. This particular study is being led by our Pittsburgh District with the combined resources of Wilmington District. It is not uncommon for the Corps of Engineers to share resources between districts. This is just one example of USACE’s ability to bring the full force of the entire enterprise to meet any challenge.

Deep Draft Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact
On Thursday, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Wilmington District, published a final Deep Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) and a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) describing the actions to eliminate the historic hopper dredging window (1 December – 15 April) and to add the bed leveling technique for maintenance of the outer portions of the Wilmington and Morehead City Harbors.

Omnibus Bill brings Authorizations and Appropriations to US Army Corps of Engineers Wilmington District
The federal Omnibus bill that passed into law on December 27, 2020 not only provided COVID relief but rolled many other bills into the last legislative effort of the now ended 116th Congress. This included authorizations and appropriations for North Carolina projects being managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Mudslide at Philpott Dam
Heavy rains on Sunday triggered a significant landslide adjacent to, and downstream of Philpott Dam. This landslide damaged the switch house, the transformers area, and the backup generator infrastructure causing the Dam to temporarily lose power.
