    USACE Wilmington Awards Contract for Essential Wilmington Harbor Maintenance Dredging

    WILMINGTON, N.C. – July 2, 2025 – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Wilmington District (USACE Wilmington), is pleased to announce the award of a contract for the Wilmington Harbor Anchorage Basin and Mid-River Maintenance Dredging. The contract has been awarded to Norfolk Dredging Company, for $17,116,750.

    Contract award: FY26 Coastal Storm Risk Management Carolina Beach & Vicinity

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Wilmington District has awarded a significant contract to Norfolk Dredging Company for the ‘Carolina Beach and Vicinity’ Coastal Storm Risk Management (CSRM) project. The contract, awarded on May 8, 2025, totals $23,517,200.00, including all options.

    Senior Army officials for Civil Works conduct site visits in western North Carolina

    Acting Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works Lee Forsgren and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Deputy Commanding General for Civil and Emergency Operations Maj. Gen. Jason E. Kelly, visited western North Carolina April 24–25 to assess Hurricane Helene recovery operations and meet with local, state, and federal leaders. Over two days, they toured debris removal sites, temporary debris management areas, and critical infrastructure projects, emphasizing the importance of interagency collaboration and long-term community recovery. The visit reinforced the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ commitment to supporting FEMA and the State of North Carolina with safe, efficient recovery efforts.

    Army Corps to provide Media Access to senior leadership & ongoing Debris Removal Mission at Lake Lure

    LAKE LURE, N.C. – Members of the media are invited to join the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for a site visit and media availability with senior USACE leadership, as the agency reaches the 200-day milestone in its Hurricane Helene recovery mission in western North Carolina. Removal of debris buried in the deepest parts of Lake Lure has begun this week.

    Wilmington District, USACE to hold public information meeting for the Wilmington Harbor 403 Project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host a public engagement to discuss the Wilmington Harbor 403.  The meeting offers an opportunity for participants to engage with members of our team and learn about the conditionally authorized project to deepen the harbor to a depth of 47’. The intent of these engagements is to ensure stakeholders know when and how to engage, the type of input that will be helpful, and have adequate project information to engage.
