Regulatory Public Notices

As used by the Corps, the term "public notice" is an official, required government announcement of a proposed agency action, decision made or under consideration, public hearing or other activity.  Please download the attachment(s) associated with notice for the complete, formatted, public notice with tables, illustrations, maps and plans.

  • SAW-2025-00194 NCDOT I-40 NC/TN State Line, Hurricane Helene Damage Repair

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application on June 4, 2025 from the North Carolina Department of Transportation, seeking Department of the Army authorization to permanently repair damage caused by Hurricane Helene on Interstate-40 (I-40) in the Pigeon River Gorge, from Mile Marker (MM) 0 at the North Carolina/Tennessee state line to approximately MM 7, Exit 7 for Cold Springs Creek Road (SR 1397) in Waterville, Haywood County, North Carolina. Proposed impacts associated with this work include the permanent impact to 0.045 acres of wetland, the permanent impact to 15,635 lf of stream channel and the temporary impact to 18,192 lf of stream channel. Additionally, it is anticipated that there could be loss of up to 3,016 lf of stream channel due to potential drainage affect associated with the construction of the borrow pits.

  • SAW-2025-00256 McCrimmon Parkway Project

    The Wilmington District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) has received an application for a Department of the Army permit pursuant to Section 404 of the Clean Water Act (33 U.S.C. §1344). The purpose of this public notice is to solicit comments from the public regarding the project. The applicant requests authorization to construct a proposed 5,000-foot long segment of McCrimmon Parkway between its present endpoints at NC Highway 55 to the west and Louis Stephens Drive to the east in Cary, NC (Figure 1). The cross-section of the roadway would include a 100 foot right of way with 4 lanes, 2 12-14-foot wide travel lanes on each side with an 18-foot wide median. The applicant is also proposing a 5 foot sidewalk on each side. The applicant proposes to bridge the span over the railroad right-of-way, as well as Streams G, H, and I (Figures 3a and 3b); there are no proposed impacts to waters of the US (WOUS) in this area. On the eastern side of the project boundary the applicant proposes the discharge of fill material into 0.06 acre (315 linear feet) of stream for the construction of a 250 linear foot 72-inch reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) culvert buried 1-foot to maintain aquatic life passage. The applicant states that the project would improve traffic flow by providing a direct route between the presently disconnected endpoints of McCrimmon Parkway, and also accommodate new development alongside the new roadway.
