WILMINGTON, N.C. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Wilmington District is pleased to announce the award of a contract for the maintenance dredging of the Rollison Channel and Silver Lake Harbor projects in North Carolina.

The maintenance dredging will address critical shoaling in the following project areas: the Big Foot Slough portion of the Silver Lake Harbor Project and the Rollison Channel. This effort will help ensure the continued navigability of these important waterways and support the essential work of our stakeholders at the North Carolina Ferry Division.

The contract has been awarded to Cottrell Contracting Corporation for $11,778,000.

The maintenance dredging is necessary to restore the channels to their authorized depths, which is vital for the safety of mariners, navigation, and the local economy that relies on waterborne commerce and recreational boating.

Work is expected to commence in Fiscal Year 2026. The Wilmington District is committed to working closely with the contractor and local stakeholders to minimize disruption and ensure a successful project completion.
