  • USACE and Dare County meet to discuss noncompliance of dredging permits

    On September 25th, Wilmington District conducted a meeting with members of Dare County leadership to determine a path forward to lift the suspensions. The intent of the meeting was to discuss and define responsibilities, establish a compliance protocol and develop a path forward to reauthorize the five suspended permits.
  • Dare County dredging permits suspended for repeated noncompliance

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Wilmington District suspended Dare County’s permits authorizing work in federal and non-federal channels in Oregon and Hatteras Inlet complexes due to a third recorded instance of noncompliance.
  • Public information meeting to be held for Surf City draft report

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Wilmington District, will host a public information meeting for the recently published draft General Reevaluation Report (GRR) and Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Surf City Coastal Storm Risk Management (CSRM) project, on September 24th at 6 PM at the Surf City Municipal Center (214 W. Florence Way, Hampstead NC 28433).
