WILMINGTON, N.C. -- WILMINGTON, N.C. – May 27, 2025 – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Wilmington District, will host a public information meeting to gather input and provide an update on ongoing efforts for the flood risk management project in Princeville, North Carolina.
The meeting will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 6:00 PM at the Princeville Town Hall (201 S Main St, Princeville, NC, 27886).
This meeting is open to the public and offers the community an opportunity to engage directly with USACE officials, ask questions, and learn about the progress and next steps in identifying potential ways to improve flood resiliency for this historic town.
Princeville, the first town incorporated by formerly enslaved African Americans in the United States, has a long history of resilience in the face of significant flooding from the Tar River. The USACE is committed to working with the Town of Princeville to enhance flood resilience and improve the community's long-term safety.
This public meeting is an opportunity for the USACE to share information and to hear directly from the community. The USACE will use input from the public about their concerns and the measures they would like considered to scope its efforts to address the Town’s flood risks, recognizing that public input is essential for developing and implementing comprehensive flood risk management solutions that support Princeville's future.
All interested residents of the Town of Princeville, Edgecombe County, and surrounding communities are strongly encouraged to attend.
