W. Kerr Scott Reservoir Wrapping Up 2022 Recreation Season

W. Kerr Scott Dam and Reservoir will be wrapping up the 2022 recreation season over the next few weeks.

Berry Mountain and Boomer Park public swim beaches closed for the season on Labor Day. They will reopen for the 2023 recreation season on May 1.

Ft. Hamby Park including the campground, public swim beach, and day use area will close for the season on October 15. It will reopen for the 2023 recreation season on April 15.

Bandit’s Roost Campground will close for the season on October 31. It will reopen for the 2023 recreation season on April 1.

Warrior Creek Campground was closed for the 2022 season for repairs. It is anticipated to reopen for the 2023 season on April 15.

After October 31, visitors wishing to launch a boat may use the public boat ramps at the following recreation areas: Smithey’s Creek, Dam Site, Keowee, and Boomer. In addition, day use activity (picnicking, walking, biking, playground use, fishing, etc.) will be available at the following recreation areas: Smithey’s Creek, Tailwater, Fish Dam Creek, Dark Mountain, Dam Site, Boomer (boat ramp side), Blood Creek Overlook, Keowee, Mountain View Overlook, Pump Track, Marley’s Ford, and West Yadkin River Trailhead. These recreation areas are open year-round except for inclement weather, maintenance, and high-water events.

Laura Shelter may be reserved at the Visitor Assistance Center located at 499 Reservoir Road in Wilkesboro, NC.
