WILMINGTON, N.C. -- WILMINGTON, N.C. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Wilmington District, will hold a Public Scoping Session on April 15, 2021 at 6 p.m. at the Henry County Administrative Building, 1st Floor Conference Room, 3300 Kings Mountain Road, Martinsville, VA to discuss a Water Storage Reallocation Feasibility Study at Philpott Lake and Dam located in Patrick, Franklin, and Henry Counties in Virginia. The scoping session will also be broadcast via Facebook live-stream for those unable to attend in person.
Henry County Public Service Authority (HCPSA) requested a water storage reallocation from Philpott Lake to support up to 4 MGD (Million Gallons per Day) downstream water supply withdrawals to support existing and future water demand needs. This feasibility study will determine the impact of this reallocation to the authorized project purposes, resources, and the feasibility of alternative sources of water storage and/or supply.
The primary purpose of this public scoping session is to discuss the study scope, schedule, and costs and provide an opportunity to obtain public or agency input on the county’s request.
Comments and questions can be submitted via Facebook Live chat in real time or you can send them to this email if you are unable to join, or chat, during the meeting time: Philpott-reallocation-feasibility-study@usace.army.mil
