W. Kerr Scott Reservoir Announces Temporary and Seasonal Closures

WILMINGTON, N.C.  The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Wilmington District has announced that W. Kerr Scott Dam and Reservoir has temporarily closed some recreation areas after receiving several inches of rain from the remnants of Hurricane Michael which resulted in an elevated lake level as part of flood control efforts. Inspections and necessary repairs will be made prior to reopening. For the current listing of openings and closings, please contact the Visitor Assistance Center at 336-921-3390 or visit the W.    Additionally, two of the three campgrounds will be closing for the 2018 recreation season. Fort Hamby and Warrior Creek Campgrounds will be closing on October 15th and will reopen for the 2019 season on April 15th. Bandit’s Roost Campground will be closing on October 31st and will reopen for the 2019 season on April 1st. Winter camping at Bandit’s Roost Campground will be held during the month of November 2018.
