Corps of Engineers to present Proposed Plan for Corolla FUDS site

COROLLA, N.C.The Wilmington District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), will hold a public meeting on July 9, 2013 at the Corolla Public Library, 1123 Ocean Trail, Corolla, N.C. to discuss the Proposed Plan for the formerly used defense site known as Corolla Naval Target.

     This document, prepared by the USACE, the lead agency for site activities, has been coordinated with the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources (NCDENR), and is available for public review at the Corolla Public Library. 

     USACE will accept written comments on the proposed plan during the public comment period which begins on July 10 and ends on Aug. 11.  Written comments may be sent to the attention of Mr. Ray Livermore, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Wilmington District, 69 Darlington Ave., Wilmington, N.C. 28403-1890.

  The public will have the opportunity to ask questions and make comments during the July 9 meeting.

     USACE, in coordination with NCDENR, will select a final remedy for the site after reviewing and considering all information submitted during the 30-day public comment period.  USACE, in consultation with NCDENR, may modify the preferred alternative or select another response action based on new information or public comments.  Therefore, the public is encouraged to review and comment on all the alternatives presented in this proposed plan.
