BASSETT, Va. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced two work projects at Ramp 1 in Philpott Park on Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 25-26. Neither project is expected to close Ramp 1 or Philpott Marina, but may cause some minor inconvenience.
The first project, set for Monday and Tuesday, will be repaving Boat Dock Road from Philpott Dam Road down to the newly repaved Philpott Marina parking area leading to Ramp 1. “We are putting a two-inch overlay on the road as regular preventative work and should take two days to complete.” said Rocky Rockwell, Philpott Lake Operations Project Manager.
The second project, scheduled on Tuesday, is the installation of a handling dock on Ramp 1. “Our goal is to have both projects finished before the build-up to Labor Day Weekend,” Rockwell said, adding, “We apologize for the timing of these projects, as we fully realize that work in August is an inconvenience for our many lake visitors. However, timing is dictated by funding availability which is far from routine in these days of budget scrutiny. All efforts will be made to do this work with the least amount of inconvenience for our visitors.”
“Both projects will improve boater experience getting on and off the lake at Ramp 1,” Rockwell said.
