TF USVI-St. Thomas Operation Blue Roof mission
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Blue Roof Quality Assurance team members went door to door to make assessments to determine eligibility to have a temporary blue roof installed on their residence in the Sugar Estate area, St. Thomas, USVI Oct. 13. Operation Blue Roof is funded through the Federal Emergency Management Agency and is managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The Corps will provide temporary repairs to roofs damaged by Hurricanes Irma and Maria. To get assistance homeowners must first sign a Right of Entry which allows Corps staff to access private property and assess roof damage. The ROE allows Corps contractors to install the fiber–reinforced plastic sheeting. QA team members also provided residence with ROEs if they did not have one completed and need a temporary roof. Time is running out to sign up for free temporary roofing repairs to homes through Operation Blue Roof on the St. Thomas and St. John islands, as the last day residents can apply will be Nov. 3
