COL Bennett was commissioned as an Engineer officer upon graduation from The Citadel in 1997. His first assignment was with the 27th Combat Engineer Battalion (Airborne) at Fort Bragg North Carolina where he served as a Sapper Platoon Leader, Battalion Air Officer, and Company Executive Officer.
