MAJ Kenneth M. Porter

MAJ Kenneth Porter graduated from United States Military Academy at West Point in 2008, with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, and commissioned as an Engineer Officer. Prior to joining the Wilmington District, MAJ Porter served as the Executive Officer for the 2nd Brigade Engineer Battalion in Fort Bliss, Texas.

MAJ Porter began his career as a Platoon Leader and Company Executive Officer in Echo Company, 1st Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Benning, Georgia, where he deployed to Iraq in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and New Dawn. MAJ Porter later served as the Assistant Battalion Operations Officer and Rear Detachment Battalion Commander in the 3rd Brigade Special Troops Battalion. On completion of the captain’s career course, MAJ Porter served as the Company Commander for Headquarters and Headquarters Company, Brigade Special Troops Battalion, then later, Bravo Company, 40th Brigade Engineer Battalion, both in 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, Fort Bliss, Texas.

After Company Command, MAJ Porter served as a Project Engineer and Project Manager in the Honolulu District, US Army Corps of Engineers. For his next operational assignment, MAJ Porter returned to Fort Bliss, as a plans officer for the 1st Armored Division, and then later as the Battalion Executive Officer for the 2nd Brigade Engineer Battalion, 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division.

MAJ Porter earned a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from United States Military Academy, a Masters of Science degree in Engineering Management from the University of Missouri Science & Technology, and a Masters of Military Operations from the School of Advanced Military Studies. His military education includes the Engineer Officer Basic Course, Engineer Officer Advanced Course, Command and General Staff Officer Course, and the Advanced Military Studies Program.

MAJ Porter’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Meritorious Unit Commendation, the Army Superior Unit Award, the National Defense Service Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, and the Air Assault Badge.
