Recreation

Swimming, boating, hiking, fishing, hunting, bird watching, picnicking and much more await you at Jordan Lake. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the State of North Carolina have partnered to provide these recreational opportunities.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers manages two recreation areas at B. Everett Jordan Lake. Poe's Ridge Boat Ramp and the B. Everett Jordan Dam Day use area. Poe's Ridge Boat Ramp is open year round and is a U.S. Fee Area. The cost to use the boat ramp is $5.00 per vehicle, per day or you may choose to utilize a Corps' annual pass or an America the Beautiful pass. Except for periods of high or low water, the ramp is open 24 hours per day every day.

Visitors will also enjoy the facilities at the B. Everett Jordan Dam and Day Use Area.  Stop by the Corps' Visitor Assistance to speak with a ranger, enjoy the beautiful overlook, and have a picnic.  You may also enjoy a stroll or run across the Dam, fishing in the Tailrace area, multiple playgrounds and small picnic shelters, and hiking the numerous trails in the area.
