WILMINGTON, N.C. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Wilmington District, will hold a public information session on April 29 to provide the communities of Princeville, Tarboro and all interested residents of Edgecombe County an update on the status of the Princeville Flood Risk Management Feasibility Study.

The informal open house-type session will be held at the Edgecombe County Administration Building Auditorium, 201 St. Andrew Street, Tarboro, N.C., from 6:30 to 8 p.m.    Exhibits and handouts will be available, and Corps of Engineers officials will be present to answer questions.  Anyone having an interest in this planning study is urged to attend.

The study area includes that portion of the Tar River Basin that may impact flooding in the vicinity of Princeville.  The feasibility study and report examines all relevant economic, environmental, and social benefits and costs related to any proposed improvements to reduce the risk of future flooding.

The final product will be an integrated U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Feasibility Report and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) document which will contain recommendations to Congress.
