U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Awards $7 Million Contract for Snow’s Cut Shoreline Stabilization

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Wilmington District announced today a contract award for critical bank stabilization along the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway (AIWW) at Snow’s Cut in New Hanover County, North Carolina.

The contract was awarded to Cape Romain Contractors, Inc. for $7,015,897.42.

This project addresses ongoing, severe shoreline erosion along Snow’s Cut, a vital engineered waterway that connects the Cape Fear River to the sound waters of the AIWW. Erosion poses long-term risks to local infrastructure, navigation safety, and neighboring parklands. Stabilization efforts will utilize targeted shoreline protection measures designed to prevent further bank failure, protect public property, and ensure the continued resilience of this heavily trafficked maritime channel.

Work is expected to begin in the coming months, with USACE Wilmington managing project oversight and quality assurance.
