The proposed repair would take place within a portion of the beach and adjacent inshore waters that have been previously modified by shoreline stabilization and maintenance activities. Construction equipment is limited to excavators, trucks, and cranes and will require a temporary use of an approximate 300-foot section of beach and nearshore area adjacent to the existing groin.

      <description>The Wilmington District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) has received an application for a Department of the Army permit pursuant to Section 404 of the Clean Water Act (33 U.S.C. §1344) and Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899 (33 U.S.C. §403). The purpose is to provide shoreline protection of NC Highway 12 and maintain oceanfront and dune systems to protect beach front infrastructure and provide storm damage reduction to public and private development in the Village of Buxton, Dare County, North Carolina. The applicant requests authorization to place sand along a 2.9-mile section of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore and the Village of Buxton’s oceanfront shoreline.  Beach quality sand would be dredged using a self-contained ocean-certified hopper dredge and/or a hydraulic pipeline dredge. Material would be obtained from a borrow area approximately 2-3 miles offshore of Buxton.  Placement onto the beach would be accomplished via submerged pipeline with direct pump-out.  &lt;br/&gt;

      <description>The Wilmington District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) has received an application for a Department of the Army permit pursuant to Section 404 of the Clean Water Act (33 U.S.C. §1344) and/or Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899 (33 U.S.C. §403).   The applicant requests authorization to permanently discharge fill material into 0.551 acre (ac) of wetland and 0.054 ac (373 linear feet [lf]) of stream channel (0.046 ac [311 lf] of which is considered a permanent loss) for the roadway network, culverts, riprap dissipaters, and associated mass grading for the site. Temporary impacts include 0.018 ac of wetland and 0.013 ac (80 lf) of stream. These impacts are associated with the Green Level West Medical Campus, a 100-bed hospital and emergency department, institutional, commercial, office, hospitality, and residential buildings, and associated infrastructure.&lt;br/&gt;
