The Corps of Engineers welcomes you to Philpott Lake. There are pristine natural resources and abundant recreational opportunities available for you to experience and enjoy. The lake and surrounding public lands are nestled in the rugged foothills within sight of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The clear water and the natural shoreline make Philpott Lake a unique place to visit.
There are
several communities and small towns nearby that offer friendly service and the
amenities you may require. The
Corps of Engineers invites you to visit Philpott Lake often to enjoy a safe and
relaxing recreational activity.
The US Army Corps of Engineers at Philpott Lake Swants to remind everyone just because it is getting colder does not mean that there is nothing to do at Philpott Lake. The awe-inspiring beauty doesn't end…it simply changes into a spellbound cool and frosty delight.
Philpott Park, Goose Point Park, Ryans Branch Park, Twin Ridge Park and the Tail Race Park are all open to visitor use throughout the winter. Dry camping is available on a limited first-come-first-served basis on 9 sites at Goose Point Park. Overnight camping is $10 for electric only. Twenty-one primitive campsites (boat access only) are available on Deer Island for $10.00 a night. Portable toilets are available in both campgrounds. |
Philpott Park and the Visitor Center at 1058 Philpott Dam Road, west of Bassett, will be open on a daily basis. On Saturdays and Sundays (excluding holiday weekends), there will be ranger talks and a variety of programs scheduled thoughout the fall and winter seasons. Gather up your friends and family and get outside for weekends of fun at Philpott.
