As used by the Corps, the term "public notice" is an official, required government announcement of a proposed agency action, decision made or under consideration, public hearing or other activity.  Please download the attachment(s) associated with notice for the complete, formatted, public notice with tables, illustrations, maps and plans.

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from Durham Public Schools seeking Department of the Army authorization to discharge dredged or fill material into 639 linear feet of stream channel, associated with the construction of a new Northern High School to replace the existing Northern High School in Durham, Durham County, North Carolina.

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from Mr. Nelson Barbee seeking Department of the Army authorization to impact and fill 0.17 acres of 404 wetlands in the Town of Oak Island, Brunswick County, North Carolina.

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application on November 19, 2020, from Duke Energy (Applicant) seeking Department of the Army (DA) authorization for the Roxboro Steam Electric Plant (Roxboro Plant). The Applicant requests DA authorization to permanently impact 0.73 acre (ac) of wetlands and 2,861 linear feet (lf) of stream channel for the construction of an 80-acre extension of the existing 132-acre industrial landfill to accommodate Coal Combustion Residuals (CCR) from the existing West Ash Basin (WAB) and a portion of the existing East Ash Basin (EAB). The existing industrial landfill has a capacity of 15.9 million cubic yards (mcy) with approximately 2.1 mcy capacity remaining and is incapable of receiving 14.1 mcy of additional CCR required. Much of the CCR currently landfilled onsite occurs in unlined locations. The expanded landfill would be lined, in compliance with the February 5, 2020, Consent Order with the State of North Carolina.
