As used by the Corps, the term "public notice" is an official, required government announcement of a proposed agency action, decision made or under consideration, public hearing or other activity.  Please download the attachment(s) associated with notice for the complete, formatted, public notice with tables, illustrations, maps and plans.

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) seeking Department of the Army authorization to discharge dredged or fill material into waters and wetlands in Hydrologic Unit Code (HUC) 03030002 (Cape Fear River Basin), associated with Transportation Improvement Project (TIP) No. R-4707 (U.S. 29 Interchange Improvements at SR 2790 [Eckerson Road]/SR 2526 [Summit Avenue]) in Guilford County, North Carolina.

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received information from the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) regarding a future requirement for Department of the Army (DA) authorization to discharge dredged and/or fill material into waters of the U.S., including wetlands, for the proposed U-2509 A&B projects, associated with improving US-74 (Independence Boulevard) from West of Idlewild Road to I-485 (Charlotte Outer Loop) in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. Wetlands and streams will be impacted by upgrades to: US-74 (Independence Blvd.), intersecting roads, parallel collector roads, and drainage features. The impacts will occur from roadway fill, installation of drainage features, new culverts/bridges, and extension of existing culverts. The purpose of this Public Notice is to vet the proposed US-74 improvement project alternatives with the public and agencies as part of the preliminary determination for the least environmentally damaging practicable alternative (LEDPA).

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps or USACE) received a request from Mr. Joe Walker of Western Carolina University (WCU) seeking a modification to the Department of the Army issued permit of January 9, 2019 (SAW-2015-00263), associated with WCU 2014 Master Plan Improvement projects in Cullowhee, Jackson County, North Carolina. The permit modification request authorization for 0.35 acres (ac) of permanent impacts to wetlands associated with further improvements to the Norton athletic/intramural fields facilities.
