Regulatory Public Notices

As used by the Corps, the term "public notice" is an official, required government announcement of a proposed agency action, decision made or under consideration, public hearing or other activity.  Please download the attachment(s) associated with notice for the complete, formatted, public notice with tables, illustrations, maps and plans.

    Expiration date: 5/9/2019

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) has received an application for a modification and extension to an existing Department of Army (DA) permit from the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), seeking authorization to permanently impact 1,366 linear feet (lf) of stream, 0.46 acre (ac) of permanent impacts to wetlands and 0.07 ac of temporary impacts to streams, associated with Section E of the proposed widening of US 221 to a four-lane, median-divided facility. The US221 widening was separated into Sections A-E and the original permit, issued January 7, 2015 presented final impacts for R-2915A, R-2915B and R-2915D. The final impacts were authorized for R-2915C on August 31, 2016. This modification request presents the final design impacts for R-2915E, a 3.3 mile section of the US221 widening, from the US 221 bypass to the US 221 Business/NC 88 intersection in the town of Jefferson in Ashe County, North Carolina.

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) has received an application from the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NC DOT) regarding a potential future requirement for Department of the Army (DA) authorization to discharge dredged or fill material into waters of the United States associated with the proposed R-5706 A & B, NC 73 widening projects. Four (4) build alternatives and the No Build alternative are being considered at this time. The project is located in Mecklenburg and Cabarrus Counties, North Carolina.

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from the North Carolina State Ports Authority (NC SPA) seeking Department of the Army authorization to reauthorize an existing permit, associated with maintenance dredging within waters adjacent to the Port of Morehead City dock and berth areas, in Carteret County, North Carolina.

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from the Koury Corporation seeking Department of the Army authorization to permanently discharge dredged or fill material into 144 linear feet of stream channel, 0.15 acre of riparian non-riverine wetlands, and 0.011 acre of open waters, and temporarily discharge dredged or fill material into 10 linear feet of stream channel and 0.023 acre of open waters, associated with constructing the Grandover West development in Greensboro, Guilford County, North Carolina.

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) has received an application from the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) regarding a potential future requirement for Department of the Army authorization to discharge dredged or fill material into waters of the United States associated with a new transportation project that would extend from the vicinity of US 17 and I-140 in Brunswick County to US 421 in southern New Hanover County.
