As used by the Corps, the term "public notice" is an official, required government announcement of a proposed agency action, decision made or under consideration, public hearing or other activity.  Please download the attachment(s) associated with notice for the complete, formatted, public notice with tables, illustrations, maps and plans.

  • SAW-2014-00189

    Expiration date: 6/5/2017

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from Mr. Wayne Smith of Duke Energy Progress, LLC (Duke Energy) seeking Department of the Army authorization for 972.5 linear feet of permanent stream impacts, 0.38 acres of permanent wetland impacts, and 0.87 acres of permanent open water impacts, associated with the Asheville Combined Cycle (CC) Project Construction Laydown Areas in Arden, Buncombe County, North Carolina.

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) has received an application from the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) regarding a potential future requirement for Department of the Army (DA) authorization to discharge dredged or fill material into waters of the United States associated with the proposed conversion of the Liberty Road (SR 1228) overpass to an interchange with I-40 in Buncombe County, North Carolina [State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) Number I-4759]. This project would also involve the realignment (part of the road on new location) and improvement of Liberty Road between US 19/23/NC 151 and Monte Vista Road (SR 1224).

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from 3M Company seeking Department of the Army authorization to permanently impact 2,533 linear feet of stream channel and 0.15 acre of forested wetlands, and 0.6 acre of open water associated with the expansion of 3M Company’s Pittsboro mine, near Moncure, in Chatham County, North Carolina.

    The Wilmington District issued a new Regional General Permit (RGP 201600163, also referred to as “RGP163”) - Charlotte Storm Water Services (CSWS) Storm Water Drainage Improvement Projects and Flood Reduction Activities. RGP163 is authorized under Section 10 of the River and Harbor Act of 1899 (33 U.S.C. 403) and Section 404 of the Clean Water Act (33 U.S.C. 1344).

    All interested parties are hereby advised that the Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) is releasing the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the project, known as Bogue Banks Master Beach Nourishment Project (BBMBNP), with plans to implement a long-term management plan to provide shoreline protection along the approximately 25-mile Bogue Banks barrier island, Carteret County, North Carolina. Management components include the use of an offshore borrow area for periodic nourishment along approximately 18 miles of Pine Knoll Shores, Salter Path, Indian Beach, and Emerald Isle, with potential supplemental nourishment along approximately 5 miles of Atlantic Beach if needed. The plan also consist of the maintenance of Bogue Inlet ebb tide channel within a “safe box” zone to protect the inlet shoreline of Emerald Isle.
