As used by the Corps, the term "public notice" is an official, required government announcement of a proposed agency action, decision made or under consideration, public hearing or other activity.  Please download the attachment(s) associated with notice for the complete, formatted, public notice with tables, illustrations, maps and plans.

  • Hurricane Arthur Emergency Permitting Procedures

    Expiration date: 12/29/2014

    The purpose of this notice is to advise the public that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Wilmington District will initiate the following emergency permitting procedures in response to conditions resulting from possible erosion, and storm damage associated with effects of Hurricane Arthur.

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from the North Carolina Department of Transportation seeking Department of the Army authorization to discharge dredged or fill material into waters of the United States (WoUS), associated with the US 701 and NC 87 Bypass interchange project, south of Elizabethtown, in Bladen County, North Carolina.

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from Mr. Joey Daniels, seeking Department of the Army authorization to create 3 new shellfish lease sites (9.4 acres, 5 acres, 5 acres) by utilizing oyster bags, containers, and cages and other current methods associated with expansion of a current shellfish operation in Roanoke Sound, Dare County, North Carolina.

    The Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers (Corps) received an application from the town of Fuquay-Varina seeking Department of the Army authorization to permanently impact 123 linear feet of stream channel and 0.7003 acres of forested wetlands, associated with the realignment of Herbert Atkins Rd., in Wake County, North Carolina.

  • CWA Proposed Rule - Comment Period Extension

    Expiration date: 10/20/2014

    On 21 April 2014, the USEPA and the Corps of Engineers (Corps) published for public comment a proposed rule defining the scope of waters protected under the Clean Water Act (CWA), in light of the U.S. Supreme Court cases in U.S. v. Riverside Bayview, Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County v. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (SWANCC), and Rapanos v. United States (Rapanos). The proposed rule was developed to enhance protection for the nation’s public health and aquatic resources, and increase CWA program predictability and consistency by increasing clarity as to the scope of “waters of the United States” protected under the Act. This notice is to announce that the comment period has been extended through October 20, 2014. Comments must be received on or before October 20, 2014. The comment period was originally scheduled to end on July 21, 2014.
