Corps of Engineers and the Upper Neuse Riverkeeper

invite the public to adopt sections of shoreline at Falls Lake

Raleigh, N.C. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Upper Neuse Riverkeeper have announced a new partnership to combat the growing shoreline litter problem at Falls Lake. Since the partnership was formed in the Fall of 2013, the two organizations have been able to remove hundreds of bags of trash from Falls Lake with the help of more than 100 volunteers.

Through this partnership a new “Adopt-A-Shoreline” program is slated to begin by this Fall. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Upper Neuse Riverkeeper have identified eight locations around Falls Lake that have become habitually littered, and will pilot the program at these areas. To ensure success, the Corps and the Upper Neuse Riverkeeper are actively seeking individual volunteers and groups who are interested in adopting these sections of shoreline.
