WILMINGON, N.C. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Wilmington District announces temporary closures at W. Kerr Scott Dam and Reservoir officials to conduct repairs and cleanup of damage caused from the storm that passed through the area on Friday, July 8. Severe winds downed dozens of trees, and power outages occurred at several facilities.

The following areas are closed until repairs are made and the area is cleared of debris:

 - Warrior Creek Campground closed until July 14

- Bandit's Roost Campground closed until July 20 with the exception of the Group Area which will be closed until August 4

- Dam Site Park closed until August 4 with exception of the boat ramp which will remain open.

- Berry Mountain Park closed until July 26

- Fort Hamby Campground and Park closed until August 4

- All trails and the disc golf course will be closed until further notice

These dates are estimates based on initial assessments of damage and the ability to contract repairs.

In addition to these closures, Tailwater Access Area and Canoe Launch will be closed until August 2 for rip rap placement on the dam.  If the contractor cannot work due to wet conditions, officials will open the area for park visitors.

Visitors are encouraged to contact the Visitor Assistance Center (VAC) at 336-921-3390 or visit the VAC at 499 Reservoir Road to obtain the current status of closures. Visitors can also check out the current status of closures at the W. Kerr Scott Reservoir Facebook page.
