WILMINGTON – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Wilmington District has announced that Philpott Dam and Reservoir in Bassette, Virginia has closed some recreation areas after receiving several inches of rain from the remnants of Hurricane Michael.
The Philpott Marina is closed due to the walkway being underwater, and all electric sites (1-47) in the Salthouse Branch campsite are closed. In addition, all boat ramps in Salthouse and Goose Point are closed, and the shelter at Twin Ridge is underwater. Jamison Bridge sustained additional damage that was recently repaired after it was damaged from the effects of Hurricane Florence.
