COL Clark assumes Command of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Wilmington District.

Wilmington, North Carolina--In a ceremony held on board the USS North Carolina, Col. Kevin P. Landers Sr., relinquished command of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Wilmington District, and Col. Robert Clark assumed command. Brig. Gen. David C. Turner, Commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, South Atlantic Division, presided at the ceremony.

Col. Landers has commanded the Wilmington District since July 11, 2014. During his command, the Wilmington District supervised extensive storm damage repair dredging operations along the North Carolina Coastline following Hurricane Matthew, confronted and carried forward a number of sensitive and controversial Regulatory Permit issues, saw significant progress on long-term projects like the Roanoke River Flood Reduction Project and a major renovation and rehabilitation of the John H. Kerr Powerhouse in Virginia, conducted the Corps response to a record-breaking drought in North Carolina during 2007 and 2008, and supported the deployment of nearly 6 Wilmington District Civilian employees to Iraq and Afghanistan for missions in the Corps’ Gulf Region Division.

Col. Robert Clark comes to the Wilmington District from attending the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania, where he earned a Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies.
